OCR: Triceratops The largest and heaviest of all horned dinosaurs was Triceratops, which weighed 10-11 tons and grew to be up to 30 feet long. Herds of these magnificent animals roamed the western United States, thriving during the late Cretaceous period. Triceratops's skull was 6 1/2 feet long, with a short nose horn and long brow horns that earned this dinosaur its name, which means "three-horned face." This dinosaur's neck frill was solid, more durable than most bone, which may explain why so many Triceratops skulls have been found. This plant eater was one of the last dinosaurs, surviving until about 65 million years ago.
